Dt-54 Digatron Hook Up

by: TY Forum People

If look in your owners manual their should be a wiring diagram. On my 01 srx I went to 1 of the 4 white wires coming out of the stator behind the recoil. You want one those wires, they are AC not DC. There is a harness in their and its tight to get to. Strip the wire without cutting it and wrap the new wire around and solder it.

Be sure that you have the right harness. There is one for the new ignition (2000 new) and a different one for the old ignition. Digitron can tell you that. You need to get your signal from the green striped wire at the plug up in left front corner just before harness goes to the hood. You get your power from any blue wire at the handlebars. You need to run a good ground to the engine because most probes no longer come with grounds. Run probe and signal wire in a piece of split 3/8-1/2" id clear plastic hose. Tape after you get all wires in. You can run that along side the engine and above the jackshaft assuming you intend to attach it to the steering post. If you buy the steering cover that bender use to sell, I would recommend that you take a piece of 1/8" aluminum and make a 2-sided box to fit the opening. That will protect the ends of the gauge and allow you to mount the remote record button there also.
